Over $2,000 Raised!

For MSA’s event for Truck or Treat, we successfully rose over $2,000! This was a huge success for us and we would like to thank Timothy House (grades 1-5) and Bentley House (grades 6-8) for participating in this event and extremely helping us!  Over 8,000 pounds of food were donated to hungry families in NYC. Thank you to everyone who took action in this event and being part of this.  This was a huge step for MSA and we plan to be more successful in upcoming events.  Thank you thank you!

Truck or Treat!

2014-10-30 14.44.13

Happy Halloween! We prepared a special event for our Timothy House and Bentley House students (grades 1-8) at the Dwight School. Truck or Treat is an event held by City Harvest and it is where kids go around and ask for donations while Trick or Treating. All the money raised will go to hungry families in New York City. MSA will be holding a bake sale on Monday at 7:30 AM, period 6, and after school!

Spreading Awareness About Sanitary Water

On April 2nd, MSA believed that spreading awareness about unsanitary water was an essential action to do.  MSA, therefore, brought Youth Coordinator of Walk4Wells, Ms. Dounia Bredes to the Dwight School.   Ms. Bredes spread awareness to the 9th grade history class because MSA heard that the 9th grade was studying countries that coincidentally had problems with unsanitary water.  We invited Ms. Bredes to talk to the 9th grade class and inform them about the struggles the people in the countries are having.  Spreading awareness to the young generation is very important in this world because they would be able to grow up and take action since they received more information than they would have.  Ms. Bredes prepared outstanding presentations that gave the 9th graders ideas on how to take action.  MSA would like to thank Ms. Bredes for all her hard work and her motivational words toward the 9th graders.  Thank you!

Tomorrow is the last day of our sweater donation drive for Covenant House!! New York City is getting really chilly and one sweater/coat would really change someone’s life. Even one sweater would make a HUGE difference! Once again, there will be boxes/coat hangers in the Student Lounge until tomorrow at 2:40!! Please help a homeless person’s life by just donating one sweater/coat. It would sincerely make a huge difference. Thank you so much!!
